ABOUT THE FILM

𝘼 𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤-𝙗𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙢 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 (𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨!)

It’s 1957 and Ed Gein has just been arrested after committing his second murder. Through a series of flashbacks and imagined memories we see Ed’s story through his own eyes while hearing his story through parodies of classic songs.

After his mother dies, Ed finally goes completely off the deep end, digging up recently deceased females to be his “girlfriends” and using their remains for whatever he sees fit, singing his way through the corpses and eventual murders. Once Ed’s deeds are finally found out, the sheriff and his deputies must sort through the wreckage of this unreliable narrator.

As a treatise on "crazy" and a twisted romp through Ed's imagination, Ed Gein: the Musical manages to be both a wild fantasy and a fairly historically accurate film about Ed's crimes and capture.

The Critics

"Ed Gein, The Musical” is “Sweeney Todd” in a red plaid shirt, a macabre medley of Midwestern murder, mayhem and mirth...this extravaganza is a tuneful treatise on deviant psychology. It's also creative, technically competent and boldly confident in its tastelessness. Dan Davies really throws himself into the role of this timid, childlike ghoul."” - Colin Covert

Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Ed Gein" is a burlesque fantasia that incorporates some of the real details of the life of Gein...it's an ambitious horror/comedy/musical/crime drama/sitcom parody. The cast of unknowns...does great work” - Chris Hewitt

— St. Paul Pioneer Press

Past cinematic exploits inspired by infamous Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein...have always been sorely lacking for whimsy. But Ed Gein: The Musical more than makes up for it”

— The Onion A.V. Club

"Ed Gein: The Musical" fills a niche that few knew even existed.” - Duane Dudek

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal

The notorious serial killer finally gets the musical he deserves.” - J.R. Jones

— Chicago Reader

...appropriately grisly and creepy, but also funny and showstopping.” - Doug Moe

Wisconsin State Journal

...inspired by the "Psycho" serial killer. "Will she dig me as I dig her?"” - Roger Ebert

Roger Ebert on Twitter

Ed Gein: The Musical offers the expected heaps of stage blood and gory puns, but also offers a surprisingly sympathetic depiction of a gentle outcast remembered by history as one of the most notorious ghouls.”

— Shepherd Express

Here's the plain truth about Ed Gein: The Musical...It's deliciously tasteless.” - Cathalena E. Burch

Arizona Daily Star

Overall, Ed Gein, The Musical is something special. While it is a very low-budget production, it has a lot of charm which adds to the experience. ”
